The Palram Hybrid greenhouse is part of the Palram Nature series. It’s one of the most popular hobby greenhouses, due to its great price-quality ratio. In this review, we’ll cover the assembly, durability, temperature, and recommended accessories. If you’re impatient, feel free to jump right to the conclusion.
The Palram Hybrid greenhouse has a rectangular shape and comes in 6 different sizes and 3 different structure colors. The smallest Palram Hybrid greenhouse measures 6’x4’, while the largest one is as big as 6’x14’.
Like most Palram greenhouses, this greenhouse consists of two types of glazing for balanced light exposure. The panels are made out of polycarbonate, the most popular greenhouse material, mostly because it’s very strong and still an affordable option. It has clear glass panels to maximize the amount of sunlight and an aluminum structure that comes in green, grey, or silver.
With its built-in gutter and roof vent, this budget-friendly greenhouse offers the most important functionalities for a good price. The panels are 100% UV protected and will not discolor, fracture or shatter. It will also diffuse the sunbeams so there’s no risk of plant burns.
Palram Nature Hybrid Greenhouse Review
Greenhouse assembly
First things first: if possible, make sure you have a helper to assemble this greenhouse. While it’s technically possible to do it by yourself, it will be much easier to do so with someone else. The assembly of this greenhouse is very doable when you follow the instructions. All it takes is a clear head and good common sense.
In most cases, the assembly will take between 5 and 8 hours (with 2 persons). Also, don’t start building this greenhouse on a windy day, it will be hard to steady the pieces as long as they aren’t anchored. If you do get stuck on this greenhouse, you can contact Palram customer support and they will walk you through it.
You’ll find Palram greenhouse assembly instructions right here on the Palram Applications website and here’s a quick video on how to set it up.
Greenhouse material
The Palram Hybrid greenhouse is made out of polycarbonate panels and an aluminum frame. The polycarbonate panels are durable, light and strong. Polycarbonate panels are the most popular greenhouse material, mostly because they offer great quality for a great price. The aluminum frame is strong, light and maintenance-free! This greenhouse comes with a heavy-duty galvanized steel base. This offers a great amount of stability and can be placed directly on the ground or foundation. If you live in an extremely windy area, it’s a good idea to anchor the greenhouse in the ground for extra strength and stability with the Palram anchor kit.
The Palram Hybrid greenhouse comes in two colors, silver or green. The green edition is usually a little more expensive than the silver one (the difference is about $90). The green color is a powder coat finish over the aluminum frame. This coating doesn’t offer any advantages concerning durability or strength, it’s simply a question of taste. The reason green frames are popular is because they blend in more with the natural environment.
Greenhouse durability
This is a strong greenhouse. It has been reviewed to survive heavy hail storms, strong winds, and heavy rains. Your plants will be protected and safe during any winter or summer storms and this greenhouse should last you many years.
Greenhouse temperature
The Palram Hybrid greenhouse can become a little hot, especially when it’s in full sunlight. To prevent the greenhouse from overheating, make sure you use the vent to let in some fresh. When you worry about your plants or it’s very hot inside, you can use a shade cloth to lower the temperature. This is something that can be useful with any type of greenhouse during summer, so not only for the Palram Hybrid!
Greenhouse accessories
The Palram Hybrid greenhouse is frequently bought together with 10 plant hangers, very useful for hanging baskets or to attach shade cloths on the inside. There are no shelves included in the assembly package. You can buy the shelving separately or you can build them yourself.
Greenhouse price
You will pay between $500 and $600 for a 6’x4′ Palram Hybrid greenhouse (this is the smallest Hybrid) . As we discussed the price of a green frame will cost you about $90 – $100 more. The bigger versions, for example the 6’x10′, will require an investment of $800 – $900. While this may seem like a big investment at first, it’s a reasonable price for a high-quality greenhouse that will last you many years. The size of your greenhouse will determine both the price as the amount of plants and vegetables you will be able to grow.
